The City Years have a different approach this year. They are starting the City Year Children's Club also known as the CYCC. They meet on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons at 14:00 to 16:00. Grade 4-7 learners, who want to be part of the club, need to register and their parents need to sign an indemnity form. The club will start their meetings on Monday, 6th of June 2011.

Meet the service leaders

Apart from the CYCC, the service leaders have been very busy.
They have organized two major events.

They organized an
Awareness Campaign in May during Child Protection Week.
They invited staff of the local Police Station and Clinic to deal with Grade 7-learners and their issues.
They emphasized the message through song, play and games.

In June they organized a Readathon for all Grade 4-7 learners.
One of their main objectives this year is to uplift reading in our school and by doing so,
helping the youth to help themselves.
This was also done to celebrate Youth Day.

Recycling of Paper

We have a Mondi bin on the premises. Please help us to recycle paper.
Unfortunately not all paper is suitable. Suitable paper includes photo copy paper, old telephone directories, news papers and magazines.

The bin can be found next to the parking area - on
your way to the soccer field.

Scholar Patrol

Some of our learners have a very responsible task: they have to see to it that all John Mitchell learners cross the street in safety!
We kindly request everybody to please obey them.
