                        14 February 2011:                  St. Valentine’s Day

We had our annual Valentine's Day celebration
                                                  on Friday 11 February.

                 Learners were allowed to wear
civvies to the cost of R5. It was not compulsory.
Learners, who didn't pay R5, had to wear their John Mitchell School uniform.

Hampers are raffled at R2 each.

At John Mitchell we learnt that we have to love people around us
every day - not only on St. Valentine's Day!

The two lucky Hamper-winners:

Left:
Zimele Mabaso (2M)

Right:
Bongumusa Thwala (4L)

Learners and Staff members were clothed in a sea of red, white and pink
to celebrate St. Valentine's Day.

Look Mom, see how pretty I am!!

J  First Days at  School J

January 2011

12 January

Registration was hectic but there was time for a few photos and smiles in between the hard work.

When a friendly person accompanies new parents and learners to their new classes, it reduces the stress.

The Leaders were very helpful indeed!!

12 and 14 January

We enrolled our new Grade R-learners and obviously the "big school" was a new experience for the Grade 1-learners as well. All new learners: Welcome to John Mitchell School

A clear indication that different people experience a specific situation differently:

Grade R:

Grade 1:

Even parents react differently:
some moms and grannies leave and others .... stay - just to keep a watchful eye.

One of the first but most difficult things to
learn is lining up.
Ask matric learners if you want to know just how difficult it is.

A what?    A row?    What's that?

Some don't know at all

Confusion!

Oh, that!

The earlier one starts the better?

The Grade R's  - without their educator!!

STAFFROOM MAKE-OVER

During the end of May and the beginning of June Miss Janse van Rensburg and Mrs. Rotteveel sold raffle tickets to the learners to raise money to change the look of the staffroom. The members of staff had their own raffle lists, which they had to raise money with as well.

Miss Janse van Rensburg and her team worked very hard during the June / July holidays  to give the staffroom a make-over.
